Microcredits for Mayan women
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Paso Por Paso offers a microcredit program for women entrepreneurs, primarily in the village of Tierra Linda. The program provides seed money on a low interest basis for the purchase of goods and materials to allow a start up or further development of a business.
MORE THAN JUST FUNDING
Besides entrepreneurial and business skills, personal empowerment and leadership skills are also developed. Some of our members who have visited Tierra Linda regularly over the years will attest that they have witnessed tangible signs of the success of this program in improvements in the self-esteem of the women, their position in the community, and their family’s lifestyle.
BY THE NUMBERS
Since its inception, there has never been a default on any loan.
In 2017, 54 loans were administered.
In 2022, 40 loans are planned.
